Hmm. *Let me count*
Been working here ( for those who do not know that I've changed my job. Im currently in a new company - Ginvera) for about 2 months plus.?
Before I got in here, my concept of designing is just 'Design lor' - Design le, then hand over to the marketing personnel and Finished! *This is what I think! *
But its totally wrong! Its not just designing and finished and start designing another.
Knowing other stuffs definitely help you to work faster and better and of cos, gaining more knowledge.
Do you know?
(Which I don't know) I think only those who used/studied before illustrator and photostop; understands my language. Haha.:
- Its better to save the file in .tiff or . eps instead of .psd, because of its file size. Do you know, EPS has a much much smaller file size as compared to .PSD; and the quality of the images is still the same. - As good?
- For certain artwork that needs to send out for printing, it is better to use Pantone than CMYK color. Pantone color might cost lower? Depending on how many color films the printer use?
- If you want to edit certain area of the photo, eg: just tone down the left size of a woman's face; its better to apply effect: feather first?
- If wanna export a JPEG file from an Illustrator file, its better to export it as EPS file and then, save as JPEG file from Photoshop. *The file size is smaller. Resolution stay*
- A JPEG file with only 2.2mb file size doesn't mean that the resolution is low. It's because, the file is already been compressed but resolution is the same.
- For Banner design, you do not need to have a high-resolution picture. Just need to produce picture that (only have 50 dpi!!!)
- It is not advisable to import a JPEG file to illustrator because some printer can't support JPEG file. Low quality color output. Its better to save in tiff or EPS.
- For Macintosh info - Initially, you did your artwork in a G5 version, and if your colleague (who is using a G5 imac), the font used will be lost!?? It will prompt out; eg: 'Optima - Default font substituted for missing font' and you need to relink it manually! * Can catch what I say? LOL*
- Differences btw an Embedded image to a Link image in Illustrator.
And other stuffs which I believed; I need more time and experience to know more.
Experience did help!
All of the above are taught by my colleague - another designer.
She has 6 years of designing/printing experiences. She is my senior liao (even though I came in earlier.LOL)
Anyway, all thanks to her. If not I'm still a 'mountain turtle' in all these stuffs.
I must SAY A BIG THANK YOU TO HER! Hoho!!
*Sorry if I bore anyone with this post *
And do correct me if the points I stated above are wrong, so I can learn more! LOL.
Was on MC yesterday.
Had flu cum sore throat (again!) and there goes my 1-day's pay.Hai.
Slept the whole day and I still feel sleepy and tired today.
Supposed to meet up with Val for our swimming session but due to my illness, it was cancelled.
PS: To val, can we have our swimming on this fri or weekend instead? :) --------------------------
As usual, boss went oversea again together with some of the marketing personnel. Thus, there aren't much jobs for us(designers) 'at the moment'.
Someone might as pop in and say ' Please help me to design this this this, by the end of the day.'
And you can see our face will turned from
to
Forgive my drawing please... hee.Might be going over to Khatib to have my nail lesson after work or on sat. Either on these 2 days...
My lesson now - Nail-art. And I can tell you that my painting look like Sh**. LOL. If I were to offer a FREE Nail-art to anyone, she'll DEFINITELY get those stick-on nail stickers than come over to have her nails look like sh**. LOL.
Anyway, it was my first lesson on nail-art last saturday; hopefully my skills will improved on the 2nd lesson.
And, if someone were to ask me about my nail course? Is it good? Learn anything? I will shrugged my shoulders and say.. 'ok lor..'
I'm still very confused on those spa manicure la, spa pedicure, etc procedures.
Guess I will be getting the certificate with 50% understanding of the course too. LOL.
Ok. Back to work liao.

My boss together with my 2 colleagues(marketing personnel) were out-stationed; so pretty free now. hee.
Thus, I decided to blog abit.
I realised that!! (Did some money calculation yesterday); My spendings was really HUGE for my previous month!
After my spending on clothings, car instalment, my daily food and public transportation; I left about $100+- at the end of last month. And i didnt even save up for the month! Oh my god...
Maybe its because of Great Singapore Sales? keke. Yeah,Im just pushing the blame to the SALES. haha.
Anyway, am I spending way too much or my earnings isnt enough? Hmm.
Anyway, will a designer(just graphic designer)'s pay increase to 2k or even up to 3k? Its WAY too impossible except you're a creative director or whatever.(Which I knew I dont have THAT creativity brain to be one.)
Of cos, I can still survive with $1k++ now. But, what about in the future?
(Esp, you've a family?)Anyway, my colleagues were discussing about some 'business plan', having our own business as our part-time job.
We talked about fashions-clothings,necklaces, etc; find supplier for the stocks and sell them online. And, maybe other services like; home to home penicure/manicure services? We knew these kind of business is really common, and more and more young adults are setting up their mini business; selling their stuffs online too.
Thus, in another way; we got to think of better/fresh idea to survive in this COMPETITIVE world.
Hmmm. The thot of having my own mini business make me smile. HAHAHA. Im dreaming....
---------
ok. Today is the last day of work for my colleague; who barely been here for about a month?
She had a better offer at the other end, so why should she wait right?
All the best ger!
Soon-to-be business partner. heee.
